Dear all,

I'm facing the following issue. I think that python 3.7 is not compatible with PyNE.

Can you give me any suggestion to fix that please?

Warm regards,

Nicola.

Specifications:

  - pyne -> python[version='2.7.*|3.4.*|3.5.*|3.6.*']
  - pyne -> python[version='>=2.7,<2.8.0a0|>=3.5,<3.6.0a0|>=3.6,<3.7.0a0']

Your python: python=3.7

If python is on the left-most side of the chain, that's the version you've asked for.
When python appears to the right, that indicates that the thing on the left is somehow
not available for the python version you are constrained to. Note that conda will not
change your python version to a different minor version unless you explicitly specify
that.

The following specifications were found to be incompatible with each other:

Package pip conflicts for:
pyne -> python=3.4 -> pip
python=3.7 -> pip
Package certifi conflicts for:
pyne -> pytables -> numexpr -> setuptools -> certifi[version='>=2016.09|>=2016.9.26']
python=3.7 -> pip -> setuptools -> certifi[version='>=2016.09|>=2016.9.26']
Package setuptools conflicts for:
pyne -> pytables -> numexpr -> setuptools
python=3.7 -> pip -> setuptools
Package wheel conflicts for:
pyne -> python=3.4 -> pip -> wheel
python=3.7 -> pip -> wheel
Package ca-certificates conflicts for:
python=3.7 -> openssl[version='>=1.1.1a,<1.1.2a'] -> ca-certificates
pyne -> python=3.4 -> ca-certificates

Dear Nicola,

Sadly, PyNE Conda package is very old (about 2 years old)...

My advice would be to install from source, you can probably use 'Conda' to get the dependencies for it.

I don't have much experience installing PyNE using Conda dependencies but I gladly help you.

Depending of you system, and how much you rely on Conda in your environment, there is some alternative solutions:
If you are on a Ubuntu-like system (and not relying a lot on Conda), you can use our installs script (https://github.com/pyne/install_scripts) that relies on apt-get (be careful if you use Conda for other thing this might mess-up your environment....)
If you are on MacOS, I personally use macport dependencies with success, let me know if you need me to help you with this.

If you are primarily Conda to install your dependencies I would suggest staying with it (Mixing multiple package manager is usually bad practice...).

Let me know if I can help. (Please if you do need help, tell us more about your environment.)

Best,

Baptiste

Dear Baptiste,

Thank you for your reply. I'm a conda newbie and I know few things about it.
I installed anaconda to develop some scripts and I'd like to use PyNE to read ENSDF files.
I tried to install PyNE with pip and standard python but nothing...
Still I didn't succeeded installing from source.

Dear Nicola,

We can probably figure this out.

When trying to install from source, could you tell us more about what you tried ?
Which commands you ran (in which order) ? And what wreathe outputs ?

Thank you
Baptiste

Dear Baptiste,
I've a doubt about the installations steps to follow.
I'm a Ubuntu user and I think that I have to do something like this

1) compile from source with the script
2) install in some way with conda

Is it right?

The 1st step seems to be ok, but I'm not able go further...
