Some of the authentication code in the Pandas-GBQ package is generalizable to other packages. For example, it would be useful in the Ibis project. https://github.com/ibis-project/ibis/issues/1583#issuecomment-412376059

Would it be possible to create a pydata-google-auth package repository (possibly as a full copy of the pandas-gbq repo) so that I could start refactoring the pandas_gbq.auth module into a more general package?

+1 from me on this. I think that this would be a useful, lightweight library for the community.

This reminds me, we should clean up pydata-conference repos and pydata code packages then we could make a pydata steering committee that could decide things like this. I’m getting pinged more these days about what should and shouldn’t be pydata. Seeing as I’m all for pydataing all the things I’m a terrible person to ask.

So does this mean I should wait for there to be a steering committee before the repo can get made?

No, I went ahead and created it.

One thing: I see that pandas is migrating to Azure for much of their testing. https://github.com/pandas-dev/pandas/pull/22992 Could someone enable Azure (free plan) https://github.com/marketplace/azure-pipelines for https://github.com/pydata/pandas-gbq and https://github.com/pydata/pydata-google-auth ? I don't have permissions to do that.

Thanks again for creating the repo. I'm getting close to the point where I can make pandas-gbq start using it.
