Hey all,

I am just now getting into the wonderful world of 360 panoramic photography - and PTGui is making it SO MUCH fun!

I have a question - I have a nice 360x180 panoramic photo that I made with PTGui....  If I want to send that photo to a friend, what the best way to do that?  Other than instructing them to load the PTGui viewer, and then sending them the file, what's the best website that i could upload it to and then send them the link?  I would like the embedded viewer to be able to scroll in 360 and zoom as well.

I have seen a few sharing sites (360cities, sphereshare, etc) but I am not sure which is the easiest to use for sending something to a friend.  It would be even better if it could be kept private - but not big deal if it cant...

Thanks a ton in advance,

Matt!

Hi Matt

it sounds like you need a bit of web-space. PTGui builds the html web viewer and all you have to do is load the html file to your own web-space (via something like Filezilla). This means that the image is only viewable to  those you share the html link with - simply copy the webspace.

Here is an example, although I have embedded the Ptgui viewer into a page on my website (using Adobe Muse):

http://msenvironmental.co.uk/penistone.html

It is quick and easy to do, but you need some webspace as a starting point.

cheers

Mike

Hi Matt,

Just another idea... Google+ has an panoplayer... not perfect but usefull to share panos. Just upload the picture and send the link to your friends via email (after setting the accordant rights).

You could use a program like Pano2Vr to convert your 360 into a single
flash file. You can get the file down to about 2M in size and still keep
excellent quality. If you are just doing 360's on a casual basis and
are not wishing to share far and wide, then this is a useful method.

Others have already commented on getting web space, so I just mention
this as a possible alternative.

Hey all,

Thanks SO much for the tips...  I tried all of the suggestions, and for my purposes, I decided to allow PTGui to create the web files and then i tossed everything onto a site of mine...  I haven't embedded the pano, i'm just sending the html to be viewed directly via the link.  It works great.  The Pano2VR program was also VERY versitile and easy to use - I may use that in the future...

The ONLY issue that i've noticed is that If I view the panoramic on my Galaxy S5 phone, it will auto rotate, or even rotate according to how I tilt the phone (depending on the settings I select in PTG when I create the web-files), however I can't manually pan or zoom...no matter what options I select before I output.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Matt!

Matt

Tricky one without a Galaxy S5 phone. From what you say it sounds like the gyroscopic effect is working. It should then work on a touch screen device - and I am sure will work on an Ipad/Iphone. You might want to try this yourself or send the group a link to try it out.

Does anyone else have a Galaxy S5??

Matt

this works fine on the iPad. I can control zoom in and move the image around with the finger. Therefore I would imagine this is also ok on the iPhone.

I am afraid you will have to get ask someone with greater Ptgui/Galaxy S5 experience.

But basically the Ptgui end is working fine. It is possibly a technical glitch with the S5??

Sorry I can't be of any more help - Joost?

Hi Matt,

Which browser are you viewing the panorama in on your S5? It should work
in the Chrome browser on Android.
