Julian/Juliao and De Pass/DePaz Families

Hello,

My name is Lyne and I am searching for information regarding the
Julian/Juliao and De Pass/De Paz families. It has just come to my
attention that these distant family members "might" have come from
Portugal. They are listed in the Bevis Marks Synagogue of London,
England. The Bevis Marks Synagogue was founded for the Jews escaping
Portugal and Spain. All the families that were members of Bevis Marks
in the 18th and 19th cen. descended from Jews who either converted or
were forcibly converted to Catholicism between 1390-1496 but
maintained awareness of their Jewish roots, married within known
families (often first cousins) to ensure Jewish continuity and then
reconverted to Judaism (or came back into open Jewish practice and
circumcision) after leaving Spain or Portugal.

I believe my Portugal connection is from Sophia Julian, the wife of
Samuel Gompers. Samuel Gompers founded the American Federation of
Labor (AFL), and served as the AFL's powerful president from 1886
until his death in 1924. His wife Sophia Julian's family is believed
to be as follows:

David Henriques Julian and Rosetta Aaron born England
Grandparents
Moses Henriques Julian and Esther De Pass born Unknown
Gr Grandparents
David Henriques Juliao and Rachel Benamor born Unknown
Gr-Gr Grandparents '
Moshe de Abraham Henriques Juliao and Ribca de Moseh Curiel born
Unknown
It is believed that the family of Esther De Pass/DePaz, wife of Moses
Henriques Julian is from Portugal.

I could be wrong about my connection to Portugal, but my brother-in-
law Cliff Nye suggested I post a Message, so here I am. If anyone has
any information about these families coming from Portugal, it would
be greatly appreciated.

To our members, please welcome my Sister-in-law to the site. She is from Ma. originally and her mother's side  goes back possibly to Portuguese ancestors. They also may have had Jewish blood, which was discussed some time ago on this  list.

You can see from the attached sheet that Esther descends from Abraham Alvarez de Pass ( Paz).  The name is obviously of Spanish or Portuguese origin, but Abraham was born in London in 1680

The Julian (Juliao) is shown in records as from Oporto, Portugal. There are also marriage records for this family in Amsterdam 

What is your connection to Sophie Julian?
