Hello Vijay

You can easily setup OWLCMS on a Mac using BitnamiStack Tomcat found in the App Store.

This will allow you to install Tomcat and you can follow the installation directions for the WAR deployment.

If you need any further instructions, you can ask me.

Hi,

I am trying to install the software on MAC. I think the process is similar to that on linux, but I am not able to install. Could you please suggest me the right place for this information.

Thanks.

Once you have Downloaded BitnamiStack for Tomcat, Im not sure how to use this to down load the file, If I could get step by step instructions that would be greatly appreciated.

Should be the same instructions for using a WAR file on any system.
Here are detailed instructions

Setting up OWLCMS on a Mac

from the App store, download BitNami Stack for Tomcat
Once installed, run the application, and go to Manage Servers.
Start the Tomcat Server

You will then need to log into the Tomcat manager to install OWLCMS

Note: Change localhost to the IP of the computer you are connecting to if on another machine
The port will also be based on what you choose, the default is 8080

username: manager
password: bitnami

Download the latest release of OWLCMS from code.google.com/p/owlcms/downloads/list
We are looking for the WAR archive.
Once download, rename the file to owlcms.war, we don't need the version number in the file name

In the manager, scroll down to 'Deploy'
WAR File to deploy, select the file you've just downloaded, and click Deploy.

If everything was successful, you should now see it at the bottom of the list of Applications

Naviagte to http://localhost:8080/owlcms/app/to view the server.

If you follow the directions i gave you, you shouldn’t have many problems.

Which steps have you performed?

This is the part, I get confused on. Every time I click on the site above it says this? So i have to find it under all downloads.

Your search did not generate any results.
You may want to try your search over all downloads.

Sorry, you’ve already downloaded the application.

The google link is actually outdated. This link http://sourceforge.net/projects/owlcms2/files/2.16.1/owlcms-2.16.1.war/download is correct, but from the previous emails you already have downloaded that

from the App store, download BitNami Stack for Tomcat
Once installed, run the application, and go to Manage Servers.
Start the Tomcat Server
username: manager
password: bitnami
That is what i have done so far, I see the application manager and the deploy area. Do i go to the site and download to save to comp, or do i download through the manager somehow?

You will then need to log into the Tomcat manager to install OWLCMS

ok, we are getting closer, this error is different and seems like an easy fix,

Google Chrome's connection attempt to localhost was rejected. The website may be down, or your network may not be properly configured.
Not sure how to fix that though, my internet is working fine.

Internet would have nothing to do with this error, as you can run this app on your Mac in the woods with no internet provided you had power.

it was me being stupid. http://localhost:8080/owlcms/app/

Need the 8080 as it specifies the port, unless you’ve changed it.

How do I do that, do you think that could be it?

Holy cow I think I got it, SO no internet needed, that is good. This is what I see now, a top black bar with console, projectors, plates, ect.. I noticed in the application about an idle at 30 minutes, should I change that.

You're getting close.

Don't worry about idleness.  There normally isn't an issue during a competition, as things get updated all the time.  Should you ever hit a timeout, just hit F5 (or Ctrl-R) and the browser will refresh.

At this stage you need to look at the Competition Setup Guide

I followed these instructions and got it installed using my Mac. I created sessions and lifters and assigned openers and did weigh ins. All that worked fine.  I tried to go the announcer console to start the competition then selected the session and received the error message "internal error please notify the administrator please take note of any unsaved data and click here to continue" I clicked and got the same message. Any idea how to fix this?
