Feature request: Wake up screen during navigation for each turn (in other words - dim screen between turns)

Hi,

Would it be possible to have a setting that allows the screen to be off during navigation, and automatically wake the screen up just before and during each turn instruction then send the screen back to sleep again?

This would be perfect for navigating on my cycle!

For examples of this see the mio or garmin bike computers plus I think google maps on android has the option to dim the screen between turns...

My experience as a cyclist using only the voice of the navigation clarify the most situations. Otherwise I turn on the screen. Triy it, it is goog for energy saving.

Google Maps does this indeed. Device goes to sleep, more or less. Power button or an announcement wakes it up.

When woken up it can only stay on the smae map screen (which makes it secure, no other data can be accessed).

Indeed a Super Cool Idea. ;-)  So this is not the first time it was asked for  but unfortunately no comment from any developer.

Recently I've been testing Osmand a lot with back ground navigation (screen off). That fact that Osmand announces streetnames (TTS) helps  but still it is impossible to navigate just with announcements and screen off. In theory it is but in practice it is not. I can not pick a 3 KM route through my town without missing a right or taking a wrong turn and I'm sure that is not because the OSM data is incorrect.

I would love to rely just on Osmand to do the routing (background) but because this is impossible I still use my Garmin which wakes up the screen when I have to take a turn.

Could some developer please react. Even when the answer is... "sorry but this does not have priority"
