My machine is ball screw system with servos. It has a placement accuracy that is what should be expected with errors considerably smaller than the 0201s I hope to place. During initial calibration, homing to the home, primary and secondary fiducials worked. Then I added the bottom camera and everything fell completely apart. When I home the system it dies with a Circular symmetry exception: search ranged cropped to nothing even though the cursor is perfectly centered over the fiducial. The system is running on a Raspi5 -- Kudos on that!! I might say that the 1mm fiducial is a white dot surrounded by an almost perfect black background extending  40 mm in every direction. Have I made the background too perfect?

I doubt it.

Please post all the .xml files in your .openpnp2 directory as well as a log file (with the logging level set to TRACE) that shows your homing attempt.

Occasionally, if I thrash around log enough it will work once and then it's back to small animal sacrifices and cursing the gods.

It doesn't look like you have calibrated your top camera's units per pixel. Please follow the calibration instructions provided on the Issues & Solutions tab.
