Hi there,
I do have all Parts gathered So i can finally start building my own EVSE to use with european type 2 cable instead of the j1772! Has anyone already succeeded in using open evse with type 2 (mennekes IEC 62196) cable?
Another Question is of anyone has been succesfull in using an RFID reader to operate ( switch on/off) the evse? I would like to add some type of security to thuis unit since it Will be accessible from the roadside next to my lawn.
An suggestions are more than welcome, i am quite a novice at soldering and programming....
Thanks from the low countries aka the Netherlands

Yes, quite a few have built with Type 2. I have not heard of anyone adding RFID but there are quite a few products that use the serial line. Should not be too difficult to add...

I've actually added RFID reading to my openevse.. it uses a tiny85 to run the RFID checking, and then 2 digital lines to the EVSE with 'results'. the RFID part is programmable externally with the 'master' card

Hi Dan, would you be willing to share your setup (hardware and adaptations to connect the wiring with EVSE) with us? Do you need an additional  poweradapter to connect the RFID?
Thanks in advance!

I was planning to post it once all the bugs are ironed out.  Some info I can give right now.. i'm using the Parallax RFID Serial reader, and for the tiny85, i'm using a digispark (though you don't need to.. it has no crystal) i used it for sheer simplicity.

I'd love to see a similar addition, but with LP Bluetooth instead. I envision something similar to the Lockitron: my cell phone merely being nearby would be enough to enable charging.

I keep my charger in the garage, so I probably wouldn't actually do it, but it'd be interesting.

As I said previously, I'm using RFID with mine. I have the RFID reader talking directly to a tiny85 (to handle the authentication/to save code space on the EVSE itself), and then the tiny85 signals the EVSE via 2 digital lines for go/nogo/program/admin mode.
