Markdown file not accepted

However when I choose Tools -> Import Flashcards, the file chooser defaults to files of type CSV or PPT only. When I switch it to All Files and select my markdown file, it the re-prompts me for a file with .ppt appended to it as this screenshot shows:

Hello Terrence,that is an excellent question. You can add Markdown files by dragging and dropping them into OpenCards. Or click right onto a category and select "Add cardset...".
