I am looking for a Zigbee simulation.

I'd like to use Omnet++ if possible because I am already familiar with that.

My main purpose is to be able to see/record the messages passing back
and forth that maintain the mesh aodv routing and to be able to view
this for different configurations and scenarios in order to make
comparisons with other routing in the same scenarios.

Alternatively perhaps just a quality interactive animation tool may suffice.

Not sure if I have explained this very well.

Any one have any suggestions?

Dear Andrew,

I also going to work with zigbee, do you have any update on this? does omnet++ have zigbee library?

Hi,
i'm also trying to simulate a zigbee network with a mobile node. Have you some example? advices?:)

Hi all,

Please i need help  with  IEEE802.15.4 MAC/PHY and zigbee implementation in OMNeT++, or matlab or any other free tool such that i can simulate, evaluate, and modify a zigbee network.

I want to check for the effect of distance, interference RSSI..etc on a zigbee network

Any help will be appreciated,
Thanks

There are already available in the package, even the ZigBee.

Thanks in advance!

IEEE802154 MAC and PHY is available with INETMANET

I use the maxim package. Inetmanet is for more higher laye i think. you can download and install/extract maxim package in/to your omnet++

Hey and sorry for the late answer!

If you are looking for a complete implementation of IEEE 802.15.4 and/or
ZigBee, you will find none at the moment.

*IEEE 802.15.4*
The most complete implementation of IEEE 802.15.4 can be found with
ns-2.35 (ns-2.35/wpan/). All other versions, be it in MiXiM or
inetmanet-2.0 are incomplete ports of the incomplete ns-version.
They offer basic support for RFDs & FFDs and employ the appropriate
CSMA/CA mechanism.

That does not mean, that what is available might not suite your needs.
You will have to determine that for yourself.

*ZigBee*
You can find AODV (ZigBee routing algorithm) in inet
(inet/src/networklayer/manetrouting/aodv) and inetmanet-2.0 (same path).

To my knowledge all the other featues (Application Layer w/ ZDO AppObj &
APS, etc.) are not available yet.

In case you really want to simulate a ZigBee-based application, there
will be a lot of hard work involved unfortunately.

Hope that helps!

That means that libinet.dll has not been build. You need to compile the
sources first.

That's great!
At the beginning there will always be blood, tears and a lot of
questions marks. :D

But my main aim is to verify/plot stuffs like Latency variation with payload size, effects of increased nodes, bit rate vs throughput, RSSI vs transmit distance etc

Thanks for the information, I just trying to simulate a very basic mesh network, and is totally true. I'm suffer per months and have nothing. I expect with inetmanet get better results.
