I installed omnetpp-4.5. It installs INET -2.4 automatically. But INET installation fails to complete. It shows following eoor:

"Invoking Command: make MODE=debug CONFIGNAME=gcc-debug -j2 all". Please find a solution.

This is caused because of parallel build (-j2). The bundled msys tools sometimes go into a deadlock. You either have to disable the parallel build in project settings or use omnet4.6 (b1) which has updated MSYS tools which does not have this issue.

Thank you very much Rudolf.
INET has installed successfully. But it is taking a long time to build project. Do you have any suggestions?

a) Turn off all features in INET (project / properties / Features) that you are not using. That would reduce the number of files to be compiled.
b) Use Linux if possible. The windows NTFS filesystem is just not suited to work with small files that are used during compilation.
c) In Linux is not an option try to use OMNET 4.6b1. The updated MSYS2 toolchain can handle parallel build so you can use -j option (and specify the number of cores on your machine). I'm compiling using -j8 on a 4 core intel i7 machine (8 virtual cores). You may need to wait for final/rc version of 4.6 as the beta version had some issues in the IDE.
d) use SSD instead of HDD. That may give you a lot speedup
e) add more system memory (however 4Gb should be enough for compilation)

Combine all the above. I'm compiling on a i7 quad core laptop, 8Gb ram with SSD, on Linux. My full INET compilation time is around 1 min 40 sec

Thanks for  your suggestion.
Now, I tried to install omnet++ 4.61b. After executing ./configure command it requires to add a line .bash_profile fine. How to add that line in .bash_profile file in WINDOWS 7 OS? please suggest.

Regards.

Simply use either of those commands:

source setenv

or

. setenv
(don't forget the space between the dot and setenv in the second variant)

Thanks for your help.
But this time is showing a error - Program "gcc" path not found. What's the reason for that and what's the solution? I installed Cygwin to solve this. But till now no solution.

Best regards.

Hello Rudolf, I tried version 4.6b1, both in ubuntu and windows7. But, it still shows same problem - "Invoking command:......-j2 All".  Please suggest what to do.

Best Regards.

Sometimes deleting the whole workspace (not just the project) and then re-importing/intsalling INET helps. This is probably caused by some stale data in the workspace settings files.

(deleting the .metadata in the workspace folder)

Dear Alfonso,

I have used the actual version. The problem solved somehow and my OMNET++ is working now.

Thanks for your response.

Sincerely
