Dear OMNeT++ users,

because of the continuous heavy load on the omnetpp.org server we have made the 5.0 downloads available via BitTorrent.

There are now Torrent links also on the download page. https://omnetpp.org/omnetpp

If you can, please seed the files.

Thanks a lot,
OMNeT++ Team

undefined parameters are warnings.. You can ignore them.

Hm. Has this been shut down? Downloads from the main site are terribly slow; I'd be willing to seed if there was a torrent but I can't currently find it for the most recent version.
Cheers

Sadly, we are regularly under DoS attack from various countries. The same IP address downloading the same file over and over again...

Time to move over to Github with the OMNeT releases :)

That might help!

But also, making stuff available through BitTorrent would definitely speed up downloads without additional burdens on your physical pipes. I just started my PhD at BU and will be using OMNeT frequently - I’d be able to continuously seed omnet torrents (I intende to, until I realized they were dead).

We are/were discussing opening up the omnetpp repo on github. The problem is, that there are some files here and there that should not be in the open repository. But opening it up would allow us to use the github binary release feature, so these issues would be someone else's problem :)
Actually, the red "Mirror" buttons on the download page are .torrent files. But very few people seed them, so the download is pretty slow at the moment. Just tried to download it and it's around 100kB/s... We publish stable release torrents since omnet 5.0...

Wow, interesting, that link didn't work for me last time... it did now and I downloaded all torrent-based 5.2.1 binaries to seed.
I have decent upload speed, so I will definitely try to run it in the background as much as possible.
Feel free to test again to see whether the network throughput has improved (of course, the point of BT is not to depend on a small number of nodes - maybe advertising that option more on the website helps, while the github migration is still not a done deal).
Best
Johannes

What macOS is compatible with Omnet version 5.0? Can a project created in version 5.2 be opened in version 5.0?

Thank you.

Thanks, but the torrent link for the 5.3 Windows version will redirect to the torrent file for the Linux version. Please fix it.

Hello again!

I don't know if you're still interested, but just FYI:
The OMNeT++ release archives are now on IPFS, and are accessible through a number of HTTP gateways. This should make the downloads, and our website much faster.
If you are still willing to help us out, instead of seeding torrents, you can pin the entire downloadable content on your IPFS node.
For more details, see this post on our new website: https://omnetpp.org/article/2018/11/22/new-website.html
