Hi Mike,

We haven't used Cloudflare, but as you're evaluating be aware of what happens when they have an outage:

works as advertised, highly recommended. we run our NZ focused site through it in the moment as a trial and are really happy with it so far.

cheers

sure, that is https://iwantmyname.co.nz/ - not PHP at all but cloudflare :-) please note that the .com site is running without cloudflare, may be interesting to compare. have a look at the statics in the page to see what cloudflare does to it.

cheers

I use cloudflare on lots of websites (mostly wordpress),  my host provides it free in their control panel and it can be turned on/off at will.

One thing I've found is it can take a while for changes to site content to show up. Some sort of cache issue perhaps?

I've been using CloudFlare for about a year now. CloudFlare is great if your website is hosted in a country where CloudFlare have a data center.
Our website is hosted in New Zealand and 90% of our traffic is local but because the closest CloudFlare data center to New Zealand is in Syndey all our traffic is deemed International and for that reason our cost for International bandwidth has gone up quite a bit since we started using CloudFlare.
Because CloudFlare acts like a proxy all your website traffic goes through CloudFlare's servers and so all our static assets like photos, JS and CSS files are served off the CloudFlare's servers in Sydney so that might have a negative effect on speed as well.
