US based VPS for image intensive website

hey guys,

ok... looking for recommendations for a US based host. need to be able to setup a (preferably) linux/debian VPS.

the clients site is going to be very image intensive so big storage a must and obviously plenty of bandwidth. we have budget - so looking for high-end/reliable solutions :)

hi mike,

rackspace and linode are both good for that. also, have a look at S3 or the rackspace storage thing to store your images. that, combined with cloudfront or the rackspace pendent to it gives pretty good performance for image heavy sites. also cloudflare might be worth looking at.

Also heard good things about Linode, however I'm not sure if they offer managed hosting (comes with control panel - cpanel or plesk or sometimes directadmin) plans as well... the above 4 do provide managed vps hosting...

FYI, re: the benchmark Gian posted, Linode has since doubled the storage space, doubled the potential cores (still 1x priority) and doubled the RAM at that $20/mo price point. Obviously that won't invalidate the IO benchmarks etc. but it might be enough to sway you depending on your application.
