I've been using Form Mule for 4 years in the same document.  It has 2 templates and emails recently stopped being sent by 1 of them.  The other is working fine.

I can't get past the spinning wheel to edit either of the templates.

We do have a G Suite account for education

I tried from an incognito window  using Chrome

I'm having the same problem. I tried opening the document in an incognito window but still have the spinning wheel. My template is currently working, but I would love to be able to edit it.

I've been using FormMule successfully in docs for a couple of years, and in my current doc for over a month. Yesterday morning I also had the spinning wheel issue, and when it resolved FormMule had lost the html tags in one of my 5 templates. All the templates are now generating fields as "undefined" in the emails it is sending. It will no longer offer me the tag options at all in the Edit window, so I can't fix or rebuild them. It also randomly sent all previous emails for the form when someone submitted a form about 2 p.m. yesterday.  Thoughts on what I should try first, please? We have a G Suite account for education.

First, please make sure you are only logged into one Google account or open up a Chrome Incognito window and open up Form Mule, from the dropdown menu go to Open, if you still get a spinning wheel, then close out the modal and go back to the drop-down menu and select "Choose source data and set merge type", at this step make sure the correct tab of your spreadsheet is selected in the 'set merge tab' dropdown.

Then in the next step, "Set # of email template (s) and send conditions"; you will also want to check the names of the templates ( make sure they do not have the words template template repeated, etc)

I don't think this issue is going to be solved any time soon.  They give solutions but they never work.  Over and over again.  I'm done with this and I will find a solution.

Thanks for answering my email. One thing that bothers me is that you never acknowledged any of my emails, at least 5 of them. Free tools that don't eventually put up a pay wall are not too common. I would also be interested to see what alternatives are available to see how they compare to this tool. Either way, I appreciate that Formmule is offered at no cost and also appreciate the participants who voluntarily offer support on these groups.

I've been using FormMule for about 8 years. It's fairly reliable, free and easy for a novice to setup and maintain. I've been unable to find the same attributes in any other solution. It leverages the functionality of a free form builder, free spreadsheet and free email client with a free application. But I know it can be frustrating when it doesn't work. Unfortunately there is no "paid" support option because it's a free product which was originally created for the NYC public schools. The only reason we all have it is because the developers don't restrict its use to only those agencies. Several years ago our G-Suite provider began restricting access to FormMule and I was forced to develop an alternate solution for new applications at our institution. It can be done. It just requires one to become familiar with JavaScript or Google Apps script (interchangeable for the most part). Once you learn how to use the Google Mail Service and external triggers you can set up your own version of FormMule that allows you to edit your templates and control the triggers of the emails. If you are having trouble getting FormMule to perform for you and can't abide with the crowd support model I would encourage you to learn to program a similar application for your uses. It is possible. Good luck!

I suspect that many who want to use the free tool also don't want to learn to write a script.  

Creating a new response sheet from the Google Form seems to fix the problem of the spinning wheel but can sometimes take a lot of work.

I, for one, would be interested in an example of using a script to send emails.  There is a tutorial at https://developers.google.com/apps-script/articles/sending_emails but I'm guessing that your script is more robust than this simple one.

Hello y'all

I reached this topic as I was looking for something else. Anyway, if you're trying to just edit the template, you can always unhide the tab where the template is stored and edit from there.

Now, I don't know if that will fix the problem first mentioned in the thread (one template not working), but I, for one, always create my templates in a googledoc, then creat the template in the form mule assistant, then unhide the tab and copy and past my googledoc there... BECAUSE usually my templates are a bit long, and I don't like the limited space both the assistant and the hidden tab gives me to work on. It's a bit a lot of wok, lol, but that's how I like to work.
