hi all

i am using ubuntu 14.04 64 bit
i have installed ns2.33 and applied  mobiwan patch in it
Downloaded Patch from :- http://www.nicta.com.au/people/mehanio/nsmisc/ns-233-mobiwan-1.patch.
     c) After installation keep the patch file "ns-233-mobiwan-1.path" in ns-2.33 folder in ns-allinone-2.33 directory.
     d) Install the patch by running "patch -p1 < ns-233-mobiwan-1" from the ns-2.33 directory.
     e) re run "./configure ; make clean ; make" in ns-2.33 directory

problem is my simulation is ending at 31.0 second and there is no flow of mipv6_bu packets

when i applied http://www.nicta.com.au/__data/assets/file/0005/16871/ns-233-mobiwan-rfc3775-1.patch second patch

mipv6_bu packets start flowing but now i am getting segmentation fault (core dumped ) error

Hi .

First :  Probably a mistake to use a 64bits OS.
Ns2 is mainly for a 32bits OS.  Some protocols will also work with 64bits.
But you will always have a poor validate result with a 64bits OS.

Other mobiwan patches :  ns-2.33-mobiwan-an-110617.patch
→ → mobiwan-an-110617__ns233.tar.gz ( 17 June 2011 )

@Gaurav Gupta , Hi.

? Still using the wrong OS ?
It's fairly easy to install a 32bits Ubuntu into VirtualBox,
to see how nice the 32bits mobiwan will work → mobiwan-ns-2.33-u1010_i386.deb
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7S255p3kFXNbVdJaVBLdlhqZW8/view?usp=sharing
→ → provides /usr/local/bin/ns-mobiwan
You even don't have to install any "ns-allinone-2.33".
Everything required is in the 6.2MB package ``mobiwan-ns-2.33-u1010_i386.deb´´

@Gaurav Gupta ,  Hi .

Please install the package `mobiwan-ns-2.33-u1010_i386.deb´ ,
.. and try with $ ns-mobiwan simple-mipv6.tcl
.. and  $ ns-mobiwan simple3_mipv6.tcl.txt

Then please inform in a new post, if you still have "Segmentation fault".

@Gaurav Gupta ,  Hi again.

Right, you cannot build any mobiwan in Ubuntu 13.04 too,  sorry.
I just made a test with the "ns-2.33-mobiwan-an-110617.patch", in "13.04 - 32".
... Will produce "Segmentation fault" with the examples.

However » mobiwan-ns-2.33-u1010_i386.deb « is working OK in  "13.04 - 32"  with :
$ ns233-mobiwan simple3_mipv6.tcl ,
and  $ ns233-mobiwan simple-mipv6.tcl

Hai Gaurav,

   This is Vikram. I am working on Mipv6 on Ubuntu 12.04 + ns2.33 + mobiwan pactch.   I was getting Segmentation fault because, i was executing basic mobile ipv6 tcl in root. After one week i realized i should execute the basic mobile ipv6 tcl in user by using sudo command. I dont know why, but it works.  Try this,  I think you also doing same mistake.

@Gaurav Gupta.

»»libXext.so.6: cannot open shared object file«« : Are you sure you are using a 32bits OS ?
This command will reply with i686, if 32bits :  $ uname -m

Or the other possibility : The ns2 prerequisites have not yet been installed :
sudo apt-get install g++ g++-4.4 autoconf automake make patchlibtool libxmu-dev xgraph
* I.e. libxext* will also be installed, as dependency for libxmu*.

@Gaurav Gupta ,   Hi.

mobiwan-ns-2.33-u1010_i386.deb provides :
/usr/local/bin/{ ns233-mobiwan, ns233-orig }
/usr/local/lib/mobiwan/ns-allinone-2.33/bin/{ tclsh8.4, wish8.4 }
/usr/local/lib/mobiwan/ns-allinone-2.33/lib/ \
{libtcl8.4.a, libtclstub8.4.a, libtk8.4.a, libtkstub8.4.a, tcl8.4/, tclConfig.sh, tk8.4/, tkConfig.sh}
.... Nothing else :  The above shows everything needed to run $ ns233-mobiwan .

If you want to do changes, you will have to build ns-allinone-2.33 + mobiwan(-an)
.. in e.g. Ubuntu 10.10 - i386/i686.

@Gaurav Gupta ,   Hi.

Ubuntu 10.10 is working OK.
But you will of course have to replace the file /etc/apt/sources.list
... and use file with "The old archive URL's" :

# -----------------------
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick multiverse universe
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-updates multiverse universe
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-backports main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-backports multiverse universe
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-security main restricted
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick-security multiverse universe
# --------------------------

...... Then do : $ sudo apt-get update

hello guys

i am also facing the same problem. i tried with vikram's solution by using sudo but as gaurav mentioned the simulation runs for 60 something secs and then breaks in the middle..

and I am not clear with the final solution. Did you installed a fresh copy of ubuntu 10.10 or did you use virtual box or this patch "mobiwan-ns-2.33-u1010_i386.deb" on the originl ubuntu 13 (for me it would be 12.04).

Can you please tell in detail the working solution?

Install ubuntu 10.10 and update list and then install ns2.33 and apply the patch

@Diwakar Paliwal ,  Hi.

The binary package ``mobiwan-ns-2.33-u1010_i386.deb´´ is not a patch.
Which you will know when you have read all the above posts in this thread.

 Hi Gaurav

Thanks for the reply. I have installed ubuntu 10.10 32 bit successfully and update the list. However while using sudo apt-get update, i am getting errors for few parts :-

hello guys. I have successfully installed ns2.33 mobiwan patch on ubuntu 10.10. tested the example files of mobiwan. But i am not able to understand them. I did a bit of googling and all i could find was about the patch and no information on how it is used.

I want to know how to create mipv6 nodes -> BS, router, mobile nodes etc.
What is COA that comes in result of simple_mipv6.tcl?
what all features can be defined for a node..

@Diwakar Paliwal ,   Hi.

COA :  Probably  "care-of address" http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/definition/care-of-address
→ → » In Internet routing, a care-of address is a temporary IP address for a mobile node (mobile device) that enables message delivery when the device is connecting from somewhere other than its home network. «
( Found with Google https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=all&gws_rd=ssl#hl=en&q=define+coa+network )
