Hello All,

I wanted to use the visualizer to see my nodes movement. Actually, I am working on safety application which
I need to see whether my nodes are changing the lane if there is an event in their lines or if they
are using severe braking to avoid the collision in front vehicle. How ever I used --vis command and
I got some constant error. Then, I decided to check if it is enabled or not. Unfortunately, it is not enabled
I don't know why?

Can anybody give me a clue to solve this
I am suing ns-3.24.1. I can't simple upgrade due to some modification I have done so far,

Regards, Adeel

I also could not find how to apply the patch file to upgrade.
If the problem with my ns3 version then how can I upgrade using the patch.
Please, do not jump to say we have discussed this so many time before. I could not find any useful discussion about it.

Hi,

no idea, but maybe (maybe) the changes you did require a python bindings rescan.
Try installing the requirements for python bindings scanning (pybindgen and its requirements) and rescan the api.

Hi T,

The problem is not with my python bindings, it is with my ns3 version. I don't know why only
this version (3.24.1) of ns3 is having this problem. When I downloaded this version, it was stated
stable working version. But, It is not quite stable. Anyway, I think now very few people might be using
this version. Whoever using this version, BEWARE PyViz VISUALIZER IS NOT SUPPORTED !!!

Thanks T for your advice!

Cheers,

Well, we're at 3.27... the problem could be also with your Python installation.
When 3.24.1 was released it passed all the tests, including the PyViz ones.

Yeah, I guess everybody has moved on,

Could you please tell me how to apply the patch to upgrade the ns3 version.
I could not find any complete discussion regarding the patch installation.
If I use the patch to upgrade my ns3 version,  does it wipe out all modification that
has been done in the older version?

Thanks for your reply,

Cheers

Hi,

The available patches are here: https://www.nsnam.org/release/patches/

About your question... well, try with a copy and mind that patches will most likely fail if you did many changes.
Moreover, many things changed from 3.24.1 to 3.27 (including the gcc requirements). hence... most probably yes, you'll need to sort out what you did change in your repository and forward-port all.
That's the problem of working with a very old release...
