Just received a large box from Ukraine and it seems the seller was taking proper packaging quite serious.
He used all these empty boxes as fillers to protect the 2 boxes with VFD VU meter displays I'd ordered. I'm not sure if I'll keep them or just toss them in the recycling bin. It does feel like throwing away a piece of history if I do...
Do you guys keep the factory boxes or just throw them away?

Hi,

There are lots of people who collect the boxes of their tubes. Especially TCA members.
In case you can fold them flat without dammaging, I would opt for an example sent by letter.

Looks like you’re living not that far from me.
Yeah you can get one if you want.

Oh by the way,
Folding flat is not an option with these Russian boxes. They’re made of thick cardboard stock and stapled together.
But like I said, we’re not living too far apart so if you really want one we can arrange something.

John

paper conservator chiming in... pedantically off-topic-ish.

cardboard (or paper) that old does not belong in the recycling bin. the fibers have become damaged/oxidized too much to be recyclable-grade.

(Sorry for bad Engrish)

Say what?  I've never heard anything like that before.  Seems counterintuitive.
