Hi,

I am trying to install mod_gearman 1.4.14 and gearmand-0.33-2.x86_64  ( from the labs_console_stable repo ) with nagios 4.0.2 on CentOS 6.5.

This is what I have in nagios.cfg: broker_module=/usr/lib64/mod_gearman/mod_gearman.o config=/etc/nagios/mod_gearman.conf ( mod_gearman.conf is empty of options for now ).

This is the error I'm seeing in the nagios log file :

[1386793432] Error: Could not load module '/usr/lib64/mod_gearman/mod_gearman.o' -> /usr/lib64/mod_gearman/mod_gearman.o: undefined symbol: check_result_list [1386793432] Error: Failed to load module '/usr/lib64/mod_gearman/mod_gearman.o'. [1386793432] Error: Module loading failed. Aborting.

Now I've looked around the forum and every time there is a similar issue - the problem is version mismatch between nagios and mod_gearman. In my case all apps are of the latest version.

What am I missing here, should I downgrade mod_gearman or nagios ?

Hey,

currently the only available packages for Nagios 4 are here: http://mod-gearman.org/download/v1.4.0nagios4/
If you need a newer version, you'd have to build it by yourself from the nagios 4 branch.

Cheers,
Sven

Hi Sven,

How are you. I found this post was long ago.
Now the mod_gearman have a lot of new version. May I ask from which version, it starts to support nagios4? Or still only this v1.4.0nagios4 version?

Thanks a lot.

Ethan

Check the previous post...

Dear List,
There is a new Mod-Gearman Release available. The restrict path options allows you
to restrict commands to certain paths. However this comes at a price and restricts
the commands also to not use a shell, which forbids characters such as $,quotes,etc...
The second change is, that the plugin output is now unlimited in theory. Practically
its hard limited by 1mb of text output which should be enough for most plugins.
There are 2 downloadable versions.
 - The 2.1.0 is for naemon.
 - The 1.5.0 is for nagios 3 and icinga 1.
The download is available at http://mod-gearman.org/download.html
Changelog:
2.1.0 Sun Jan 18 17:14:55 CET 2015
          - add support for large plugin outputs
          - add --restrict_path option to restrict worker to certain paths
Please report bugs on this list or on github.
Thanks for using Mod-Gearman,
 Sven

hi,

Is there an update on what version of mod_gearman is compatible for Nagios 4 or should we still use mod_gearman 1.4? Is there a chance that it will be upgraded in the future?

Thanks in advance.

I use mod_gearman 2 without issue.

Even on nagios part I use mod_gearman 2 and on remote part I use 1.4 which I am lazy and didn't update.

I didn't understand your question about "Is there a chance that it will be upgraded in the future?"

Thanks

I don't use Nagios 4 myself, but a Nagios guy told me that at least Mod-Gearman 2.1.1 runs just fine. And since
there haven't been much changes, the latest 2.x release should work too.

thanks for your reply.

I use same. I've been testing it. how many hosts and service checks do you have ?  You use nagios 4.0 or nagios 4.1  and which gearmand version do you use, 0.25 or 0.33 ?

I see nearly 1 day after I started nagios, service checks are "orphaned" . You have any idea about the reason.

Regards.

I have exactly the same problem with orphaned hosts which star appearing a week after nagios restart/reboot.

I use nagios 4.0.8 , gearmand 0.33-1 and mod_gearman 2.1.2-1

I wonder if there is magic combination of versions that can or cannot be used together
