No Sound on HLS Streaming

Hi, i just installed MistServer. It works fine, Only issue i am facing is on HLS Streaming when stream pushed contain MP3 Audio and H.264 video. Video can be viewed but No Audio. Stream is Live Stream sent through Channel magic Cable Playout Software. FLV, RTMP video/audio plays fine. Please help me to sort this issue. Thank You.

Hello Rohir,

The problem you're experiencing is a limitation to the HLS protocol when it comes to MP3 and browser support.

Unfortunately MP3 audio is only supported in HLS when you're using Safari or Edge based browsers. So Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer will be unable to play the sound as the browsers itself have simply no support for MP3 audio in HLS.

if you could I would recommend changing the MP3 to AAC as that is more widely supported and should work in every browser in every video protocol.

Hey Rohir,

I know that Nimble Server has an encoder build in, which is most likely used to change the Audio from MP3 to AAC for HLS streaming. The pro version of MistServer should allow for MP4, which should work without problem.

MistServer doesn't handle encoding at all, which is great when you've got everything in the format you'd want, but not so much when changes need to be made.

I think the easiest method for you to check if the MistServer Pro would fit for you is if I send you a trial of 7 days your way. The only thing you'd need to do for it is to make an account at our website and let me know what Operating System you'd like to use MistServer on.

Once you've made the account I'll send you the trial.
