Hello - complete Mac newbie, but not computer newbie. I've got Money running on my Windows machine, been using it since the late 90s.

I got the Mac Neo to learn the Mac, and to be a backup machine if anything happens to my Windows. I've got a private cloud server running, so I want to be able to open my Money files on either machine.

I've downloaded the latest from NG (Thank you!) 19Jul2025 version and the Dlx - followed the instructions. But I've run into a "Mac-ism" issue that I'm not sure how to get around.

When I double click install (or Ctl click and select "Open"), I get a pop window that says "Apple could not verify "Install" is free of malware [etc etc]"  I get two options "Move to Trash" or "Done".  I am unable to run the installer.

I'm going to see if there's a general way to get around this - apparently Apple really doesn't want me installing things off the web - but am hoping someone here using the Mac version has run into this and has some advice.

Thanks!
Michael

Sorry, maybe I am missing something in your explanation, but are you aware Money will not run natively on MacOS - it is a Windows only application? It can, however, run in Windows virtual machine using third-party software if that is what you want to do.

Hi Michael,

Take a look in the msmoneysetup folder, in the Guides folder, in the QuickStartGuide. Section 5 should have what you’re looking for. Let me know if it doesn’t work, I’m not running Tahoe on my M1 yet.

Also, I haven’t updated the MacOS install script for the new version of wine stable yet (it’s on my short list now! lol) but if you can do me a favor and upload the log files from msmoneysetup/logs I would really appreciate it.

I guess I need to update my M1 soon…

Thanks,
Nathan

Hello Nathan, glad you're still on the list!

I figured out how to go to Settings and give the application explicit
permission, so I got through install. Unfortunately, wine failed on
building a component - libffi. I'm happy to upload the logs - where
would you like them?

Either here or reply to me directly if you want.

I’ll start working on the new wine stable for mac tomorrow or the next day. Hopefully everything that I figured out for Linux will carry over to MacOS.

I sent a zip file of that folder to you in a message through Google Groups site - let me know if you didn't get it!

All good, MIchael. I'll try to get some time to look at this soon.
