Do you mean in the backend or the front end?

Gotcha, I would take a look at this, http://bitofpixels.com/blog/mezzatheming-creating-mezzanine-themes-part-1-basehtml/, and this, http://www.rosslaird.com/blog/first-steps-with-mezzanine/.

Those two blog posts go over some of the ways to modify Mezzanine.  In addition to that, check out https://mezzanine.jupo.org/docs/frequently-asked-questions.html#templates.

Keep in mind that Mezzanine is Django so anything you could do to modify/style Django templates will apply to Mezzanine.
