Storing E-Mail in Mayan

Hi all!

I just discovered Mayan and think it looks great.

I have one question:

Is it possible to archive E-Mails together with other documents in a folder?

I need to archive all available data for single projects together in one folder...

Hi Dominik,

The notion of folder in Mayan EDMS is user specific. Each user can have a different folder, and it does'nt affect the folder structure created by others.

In your case, I think you just need to create a metadata to differentiate each project, so all documents in a project has that particular metadata value. And you search with that metadata value to get all the documents for a project.

thank you for your reply.

I played with Mayan and found the metadata options.

But how do I import emails? I tried to import mails from thunderbird. They were added as .eml files but mayan could not index the eml file. At least not text was shown on the details page of the document.

Hi Dominik,

Yes, it does'nt look like that Mayan edms supports .eml files.

Maybe you can try using some tool to convert all your eml files to pdf and then using the batch upload option to load them in to the DMS.
