Hi there and another MASH question :)

I need a chain to follow several (disconnected) curves and I thought it was a nice idea to just make a MASH network and appli a curve node with all the curves inside.
The problem is that the distance between each link of the chain is different in each curve because it is based on curve's length...
So, is there a way to make the distribution along the curves even?, so every link is about 10cm away from eachother?.

Thank you in advance.

Not sure, but there are other more specialized tools to create chains, such as this one:

https://www.highend3d.com/maya/script/create-dynamic-chain-from-curve-for-maya

Create dynamic chain from curve for Maya 2.0.4 (maya script) Generate chains from selected curves, ready for animation and very fast (but realistic) dynamic simulation.

Sorry I missed this post.

In 2017u2 you can do:
Check ‘Proportional Counts’ which means that the ‘link count’ will be split amongst the curves according to their length.
Then check ‘Ignore Step’ (if you want to fill the curve) or check ‘Equal Spacing’ (to have the curves partially filled but the links an even distance apart).

You might be able to do this in 2016.5 but I can’t remember off the top of my head.
Best,
Ian

Hi Ian;
I'll recheck, but I remember doing that and, in 2016.5 it doesn't do what you say :(
Thanks.

Hi there;

Yes, in 2016.5 also works, thank you very much Ian.

... and another challenge for you ;) : Can that be mixed with the "start, middle and end different IDs" post?.
I mean, How can I put several objects in several curves with equal distance (already addressed) but make the first and end objects ID to be different (1 and 3 for example and 2 for the inbetween ones) for EACH curve?.
Haha, now you have the every day challenge for today ;)

Thanks in advance.
