using the TeX font's sans serif fonts

Hi,

So I've been fiddling around with sans serif in MathJax as it would make the math look more like i want it on a particular page, hence I've followed some great advice from older threads here on the mailing list and am currently wrapping my math within "{\sf math here}" BUT, i would also like to have basically all the letters italics, or att leas all variables say, "{\sfit m}{\sf = 12u}" where the m would be italics, but the =, 1, 2, and u would not. giving something like "m = 12u" i've thus dug into the fonts folders and found out that there are in fact an italics sans serif font (MathJax/fonts/HTML-CSS/TeX/eot/MathJax_SansSerif-Italic.eot) however, i cant figure out how to use it. I've tried a variety of combinations, neither of which works: (format: rendered — source)

Example of what i want to achieve:

pdfLaTeX reult of \textsf{\textit{m}} = 4.3

Thus i feel, there's no harm in asking, is there a way, and if so, how, that i can enable the Tex-SansSerif-Italics font for a set of characters, or are there any other sans-serif fonts i can use to reach this goal?
