Dear Experts,

One of my customer is using our E6013 electrode which is highly cellulosic.

He has observed crack after tack welding.

Need some solution for this problem.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Amit just to add more.

E6013 is normally used in structural applications.

Also check the
1. Carbon Equivalent and the required Preheat which has to be used during tacking.
2. Check the thickness and the resultant restraint and the applicable preheat.

Thanks & Regards

E6013 is Rutile electrode(Titania - Potassium).

Some electrode manufacturer recommend Rebaking of electrodes at 150degC(some where near by)

1. Try baking the electrodes
2. Check the surface condition of the material welded, a slight warming with Preheat torch is recommended.
3. Check the Root Gap for Tacking.

Thanks & Regards

one of inspector tell me its not neccesary to backing of 6013 but its packing condition, physical condition must be observed before use.
Dust and material condition may be problem.
grade of material and bcause its for low grade material purpose for welding..afford for tack weld in uppergrade ,7018 is better option for tack also in uppergrade

Yes, it is not necessary to bake it but to be kept in Quiver at 120°c. It is rutile based flux which is having >15<30ppm hydrogen level, to be kept as it.

ok thanks sir for correcting me. so its not important to use mother oven for 6013 but complusory to use portable oven for 6013 .
