Dear All.

Does anybody have any documents that said about criteria for ASTM G28 OF INCONEL CLAD?

Regards

Dear Shyamal.

Thank you for your response but I am looking for a corrosion rate for inconel 625 which in the standard referred to some documents and articles. my concern has been arises that possibility of carbide to happen is high that detrimental to corrosion resistance.

Regards.

Dear Shyamal.
unfortunately in my project specification referred to ASTM G28.
Do you have any access to reference documents that addressed in the document?and would you say in your project spec how much specify to corrosion rate of G28?

Regards

Hi,

You should check client spec and most of the standards give the requirements as  0.9mm/year.

Hi.
Thanks.
Would you send documents that mentioned this criteria, unfortunately in our documents only referee to G28.

Thanks.

Hi,

It depends on client, I have gone through the specs of end users such as ADCO, Tatweer, PDO and they clearly state that it should not exceed 0.9mm/year.
You can also visit below article to know the widely followed corrosion rates for various alloys with their corrosion rates.

Hi.
Can you share ADCO/PDO/Tatweer document that say it?or even the titles or number document

Dear Joseph.

Thank you so much. I have found a reference in mentioned address web mail which have been attached.
Based on this image, the acceptance criteria for 625 is 0.9 but there is two item that weaken applicability of it, at title of table said unwelded and in second column that highlighted to as-received.
1.what is your idea, this criteria can be used for weld and clad or not?
2.and in title of G28 applicable for wrought Ni alloys, nevertheless is it applicable for weld qualification?

Regards.

Hi pls find my reply,

1. Same criteria will apply to weld and materials.

We have done this test for weld as well as parent materials (Mill as well as in shop Lab) successfully and could achieve corrosion rates less than 0.8mm/year.

Hi All.
I have found recently total specification of "GS EP PVV 618" that say 3mm/year(ideally 1-1.2mm/year) for acceptance of G28.
Now does any body know why this amount specified in spite of other documents (that mentioned .8 or .9 mm/year ) and when ideally amount applicable for setting criteria?

Regards.

Hi All.

Why orientation of sample for corrosion testing in following paragraph ofAPI 5LD strictly mentioned? and what heat treatment used for sensitization of 625?

Specimen sampling. One specimen shall be taken from the CRA  layer of as manufactured pipe in the same
condition as pipes to be delivered. For welded clad pipe and welded liner pipe of lined pipe an additional specimen
shall be taken from across the longitudinal weld (i.e. original CRA cladding + weld seam). The specimen axis shall
be transverse to the pipe axis. One test for each heat or each heat-treatment lot shall be performed as described in
the footnote to API 5LC, Table 7.
As part of the MPQT a parallel specimen shall be  tested with a sample of the same CRA which has been
deliberately sensitized in order to demonstrate that the chosen test method is capable of detection of a
microstructure which is sensitive to intergranular corrosion. The sensitizing heat treatment shall be agreed upon
between the purchaser and the manufacturer.
