Map Maker Update - July 27, 2012

Hi Mappers,

It’s Release time again! This release, we are introducing both new and improved Map Maker features. You can post your thoughts and suggestions on this release here.

Minor improvements to the Review Emails:

We’ve improved the look of Review Emails. Check out the new format:

 

A shortcut for shortcuts :)

We’ve introduced the help box for all the keyboard shortcuts on Map Maker. Press Shift+? to view all shortcuts to various tabs of Google Map Maker.







Direction changes to roads will now be shown in the review and history panels:

Previously, direction changes to routes were not visible in the review/history panels. You’ll now be able to view the route direction changes.

Added numerical suffixes to Anonymous mappers:

We’ve heard your concerns on forum and issue tracker about distinguishing Anonymous mappers, all Anonymous mappers will now be automatically assigned numeric suffixes. This will help to identify and flag the mapper profiles of all Anonymous mappers.


Belarusian (Latin) and Russian (Latin) languages on Map Maker:

We’re happy to announce that you can now add features in Belarusian (Latin) and Russian (Latin) languages. We hope that this will curb the confusion of adding names in translated or transliterated languages.

Re-positioning the last point while drawing a line/polygon, now works:

It was observed that while drawing a line or polygon, if you attempt to reposition the last placed point by dragging it, the draw operation ended.

This is now fixed, and you will be able to reposition any point while drawing a line or polygon.
