Hello!

I am having an odd issue with Artnet and my Wifi devices in my house.  I have an leDMX4 Pro connected to my network to power my 1600-1650 WS2812B RGB LEDs.

I switched to a TP-LINK Deco x20 Wifi 6 Mesh network many months back but didnt notice I was having the issue until I was working on my DMX DJ Lights in the same project file and the leDMX4Pro was turned off.  Its possible this issue was happening on my previous non-mesh router as well.

My Wifi mesh network seems to get flooded or just stops talking to me where all my wifi devices won't communicate.  Note:  All hardwired ethernet connections experience no issues, its just my Wifi.

This issue only happens when the following align:  Lightjams is open with my project  loaded and the leDMX4 Pro is OFF.  The Lightjams project is sending ARTNET from Universe 0 to Universe 11.  It is the only Artnet device I have.  The other device is a USB to DMX adapter.

If I turn on the leDMX4 Pro while the project is open the Wifi issue goes away immediately and all my Wifi devices are happy.  I think this is why I never noticed the issue before because I've typically always had my leDMX4 Pro on when this project was open.

I opened older versions of my project to see if there was something weird I programmed in one of the grids and the same result happened every time until I opened a project before I upgraded my LEDs to 1600+.  So my amount of ARTNET universes dropped from 12 to 3.  The issue does not happen with this really old project with 3 universes.

1.  I dont think its the leDMX4 Pro because the issue only occurs when its off and LightJams automatically detects the nodes when its on, they are not manually programmed into the project.
2.  It seems like when my leDMX4 Pro isnt on, LightJams is attempting to send the Artnet signals over my network but the packets are getting jammed up and my mesh network devices are getting overloaded with how many universes I have.
3.  Everything works flawlessly when I have everything turned on, its only when LJ's can't talk to my leDMX4 Pro so the artnet universes are sending packets to nowhere maybe?
4.  Its possible its just my project that has the issue, however I've done so much work on it I would hate to start over. =(

Thanks for any tips and advice =)

Hi,

It looks like artnet broadcast is clogging your wifi network. When the leDmx4 is on, it's telling Lightjams to unicast artnet. When it's off, if you haven't configured Lightjams to unicast artnet, Lightjams will broadcast. This is a problem with a wifi and many umiverses.

You can go in the view/configuration menu and then under the artnet panel in the output section, manually add a node subscribed to the leDmx4 universes, entering the leDmx4 ip address. This way, even when the leDmx4 is off, Lightjams will unicast.

Good afternoon!

I seem to have this returning issue again where when I turn on lightjams and load my project - 2.4ghz devices start to wig out on my network. Is there an easy way to see what universes and IP's lightjams is trying to send artnet packets to so I can add them manually?

You can see all art-net nodes along with the active universes in the view/configuration menu and then under the Art-net tab. If no nodes are detected and you haven't manually added nodes, then art-net universes are broadcasted on your wifi network.
