Hello all,
I am Srikar Madhira and I am conducting a survey to identify the applicability of agile practices in software organizations. Kindly help me in my research by participating in this survey. This survey is a part of a Master Thesis conducted at Blekinge Institute of Technology. The research intends to identify the requirements/changes that are needed for implementing or adopting agile practices, the challenges faced during their implementation/adoption and the solutions for those challenges.
I require your help in completing this research. Please participate in this survey and share your knowledge on agile to the body of software practitioners, help them in understanding agile practices in a better way.
The survey is anonymous and your response is kept strictly confidential. Please provide your valuable knowledge through your participation in this survey and kindly forward the questionnaire link to other members of your software groups or the organization in which you work, and encourage them to participate as well. Thank you very much in advance for your participation and time. The Link to the survey is provided below

I suggest you reduce number of questions.

Thank you for your advice. I tried to reduce the number of questions. The primary questions could not be reduced as my research is based on that.
Thanks and regards,
Srikar Madhira

Your survey results are going to have a huge selection bias based on the people willing to take such a really long survey with no motivation to do so other than being nice and helpful.  20-30 minutes of tedious work is a lot to ask, especially from strangers.  I don't think you're likely to get the answers you're looking for with this research method.

I would consider doing in person 30-min interviews, buy people a cup of coffee and ask them questions.  I think you'd learn a lot more about the applicability of agile practices in software organizations, which is ultimately the point.

Good luck to you.

Janelle

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I tried to go for personal interviews as well but couldn't find many contacts. I agree that the survey is a bit long. But I had no other option than to ask the people for their help. 20-30 minutes is the max time frame one can really need to answer this survey. I will take your suggestion and try to reduce some questions though.
Thanks and regards,
Srikar Madhira

Dear Srikar,

Janelle’s advice is, as usual, quite sound. Find an agile interest group, or a PMI chapter, or another forum where people physically gather near you, and make your appeal there. If there’s nothing nearby, ask your thesis advisor to help you find a small travel grant to gather the research, or ask him or her for alternate advice.

Nobody needs inherently flawed research, please do it right or don’t do it at all.
