Dear all,
I am using lavaan all the time, and I really love it. However, this time, I cannot seem to be able to find a way to run an Exploratory SEM. Is there a workaround to do ESEM with lavaan? If not, are you aware of any other R package that can do it?

Thank you for your responses (hope you enjoyed your summer holidays)

Hi Jason,
You can use several different R packages to run Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA).
You will see many options if you google EFA in r.
"psych" package is one of them. Below links are R tutorial for EFA using psych package.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the response. Thank you also for the links. I was actually looking for a routine that would "automatically" follow the ESEM procedure for me. Othrwise, I will have to do it in a stepwise fashion myself, right? I have never run ESEM in the past, so I am not quite sure how I should do it in a step-by-step fashion. Any ideas?

There is no ESEM capability in lavaan.

Hi Jason,
I am sorry, I sent you a wrong answer before. You mean Exploratory SEM, not EFA.

It seems like you can use sem package to fit ESEM. Please consider the below article and link.

I have never done this analysis before, but I found this analysis is interesting. Hope other people who know better can help you.
Also, if I found more helpful information, I will send it. Sorry about the confusion.

Another-Mplus can also conduct ESEM according to web resources. It might be helpful if you read their article to understand ESEM.
