Does anyone have access to a 3D printer that can get me a quote on printing a few of the Universal Connector Kit pieces? I'm running and after school program in the Owosso school district and am designing a mini maker faire of sorts. The kids are going to try to build things using legos, tinker toys, k'nex, and lincoln logs and I was hoping to get some of the pieces printed for them to use.
I attached some of the .stl files so you can get an idea of the detail on the prints.

I'm always up for printing jobs.  Are those parts to scale?  Some of the details are less than .25mm across.  It's going to be difficult for any extrusion printer to go to that small of a horizontal detail.  At least two of them look like they will need support material as well, so the finish might not be amazing.

Not saying I'm not willing to give it a shot, just that it's certainly a challenging print :-)

Oh I know it would be challenging, but I was sure which 3D printers you had access to or what type of detail they could handle. This link might give you more information: http://fffff.at/free-universal-construction-kit/ The site claims it could be reproduced with even a MakerBot but I suspect it would require a lot of trimming.

Yeah, according to their site, .1mm of resolution is pushing it.  I know none of the machines at the space have that accuracy.  My RepRap can go that low with layer height, but probably not horizontal accuracy.  I would need a smaller nozzle.

If you're still interested, I can give it a shot and see how the pieces turn out.

Oh yes, I'm still interested. I don't really have a budget (paying out of pocket to help the program) so if you can try to determine the pricing that would be awesome. I would also be willing to teach a class at Lansing Makers for kids where I can bring all the legos, tinker toys, K'nex and Lincoln logs I have and do a build off- if YOU are interested and don't have someone doing that yet. :)

We are always interested in people teaching classes.  I can contact you off-list to continue to conversation.
