Video link type of question

Hi Team,

Does anyone knows  how video type question works, i have type of questions thats respondent needs to view video and also fill-in questions?

Hi Edward,

The question type video is prompting a user to record a video as an answer to a question (e.g. "Please record a video of the head of household saying his full name"). That video then gets saved along with the form data. 

If you want to include a video as part of the question, that's a bit more advanced and can't be done directly in KoBoForm. You would need to add a line to your XML form. I'm attaching an example to this email. In this example, the question, line 9 is the addition that adds a video to the label of the question, so that the user sees both the question label ('Sample video') and the video itself. Note that it references a video file name that needs to refer to an actual file that is located in a folder 'video' inside your /sdcard/odk/forms folder, and is called 'sample.3gp'.

You will ideally have to add the video element using the example below

<value form="video">jr://video/nurse.mp4</value>
          </text>

In the odk forms folder there should also be a media folder with the form label e.g. if your form is labelled ewin001.xml then the folder media should be edwin001-media. You will place the videos,pictures, and audio in the media folder. Our example above shows that there is a video known as nurse.mp4. When it is audio change the video to read audio and ensure u have the write file extension e.g. .mp3.
