MIgrating my cellar data to new phone

I bought a new phone and the Kellermeister app got installed during the phone transfer process. However, none of the cellar data got moved to the new phone!   I tried opening the app on the old phone and tried the "Synchronize"  and "Synchronize All" options.  I have no idea if that worked or not.    So when I open the app on the new phone and run "Synchronize,"  I still have no data showing. 

Can you please let me know how I might get access to my data from the new phone?

Norm,

I can see that synchronization has happened in the logfiles. Please check if the correct cellar is selected on the target device. Please also check, if the cellar you are looking for, is of type "PRIVATE" and not COMMERCIAL (commercial cellars are currently not displayed by default). To check this, you can toggle the setting.

Hi Jurgen,

In my settings, I already had the selection of "PRIVATE" on both the old phone and the new phone instances of Kellermeister.   Presently, I'm now wondering if I'm logging into the same account on the new phone.  I don't have the 3 dots menu (to the right of the magnifying glass icon on the new phone instance of Kellermeister.  However, on the old phone I DO have the 3 dots menu and from there I can log out and log back in to verify my account name being used.  Why can't I log out from Kellermeister on the new phone do you suppose?

Also, I'm running out of time as I have to send back my old phone to Verizon soon.  I will lose hundreds of hours of data input if I can't get the Kellermeister data accessible on the new phone.  Can you please help me!!?

Hi Norm,

before running out of time: you can export your data as ZIP and save it offline.

Please check in the settings if Sync is enabled.

HI Jurgen,

I am able to run the export to ZIP from my old phone, however I can't locate the ZIP file that was created in order to save it offline.  Can you please help me know how to find and save this file?  Also I'd need to know where to place the ZIP onto the new phone if it is any different /location than the location on the old phone.

I went into Kellermeister again on my new phone today and it suddenly had the 3 dots icon on the menu. I was not logged into Kellermeister, so I proceeded to login using gmail account.  I was then able to attempt the synchronize after allowing access to my contacts (not sure why the app needs to access my contacts however!).    Great news, most of my hard work has been restored to the new phone.

Only issue now is that the photos/images for all of the wines did not transfer to the new phone. I saw that images are not copied to internal storage and need to be backed up separately.   What does this mean?  Can I back them up from the old phone?  Or are you saying that I have to maintain a separate copy of the images in addition to what I capture into the Kellermeister app?  Please advise.

Great to hear that the sync worked out so far. 

The image thingy is a feature which I unfortunately implemented years ago because people wanted to maintain the labels on their own. This was before the sync was invented. 

Can you please check if the images are in the ZIP export? You can simple share the ZIP from inside the app.

Hi Jurgen,

I'm trying to check the ZIP file, but here is my challenge.  I export from the old phone to a ZIP file...that seems to work fine, but I have no idea where to find where this ZIP file was created. I can't find it using my phone's file manager app.  Then, when I try to import the zip file using the IMPORT CELLAR option on the new phone, it can't find the ZIP file either. It says, "No local archive for import available - please export cellar first or import from remote storage (e.g. Dropbox)."  but Kellermeister does NOT provide an option of where to save the ZIP (e.g. Dropbox) nor does it allow options to choose from where to import the ZIP file.   Can you please provide some guidance on how to use the import/export/ZIP file from old phone to new phone?

The Share Cellar seems to have brought back all of the images. Thank you for all the help.  Is there an app manual that describes what all of the app menu items do and how to use them?  I'd like to be more informed instead of having to ask  you all the questions.   Thanks again!
