jPlayer 2.6.0 has been released on http://jplayer.org/

Download the latest version here:
http://jplayer.org/download/

The release notes for the changes from the previous release are here:
http://jplayer.org/latest/release-notes/

Upgrading is seamless. Simply add the new jquery.jplayer.min.js and Jplayer.swf files to your site.

NB: If you want to start using the new media.title feature, then you will need to update your skin HTML and CSS. There is a minor change in how the jp-title is defined in both... In summary, the CSS had jp-title renamed jp-details, as did they HTML. The HTML then had a jp-title classed span added around where the title text used to appear. (If you do not define media.title then jPlayer does nothing to the jp-title element, maintaining backward compatibility.)

New features:
  • New: The media.title property of setMedia is now written to the jp-title of the GUI.
  • New: The media.title property is also written to the media element's title attribute. Some devices will now show the media title in their control centers.
  • New: remainingDuration option to cause the duration show as the time remaining.
  • New: toggleDuration options to enable clicks on the duration to toggle the remainingDuration option.
  • New: $.jPlayer.event.setmedia event the fires when setMedia is successful.
  • New: The media.duration property of setMedia is now used (if given) to calculate the duration/remaining times being displayed.
  • Fix: The no solution links work.
  • Fix: Added loadedmetadata and durationchange events to the Flash MP3 solution.
  • Fix: The console log check now works in old browsers.
  • Fix: SetMedia media properties are checked for truthy before attempting to convert to absolute.
  • Fix: Android devices will now be able to play media immediately after changing SRC.
  • Fix: The destroy command now removes the full screen event handlers.
  • See release notes for more details.
The jPlayer GitHub repo has had a v2.6 branch created.

jPlayer is now listed in the official jQuery plugins:
http://plugins.jquery.com/jplayer/

Old ghosts coming back to haunt.  There is a bug in Firefox when calling destroy():

HTTP "Content-Type" of "text/html" is not supported. Load of media resource about:blank failed.

That is just a console statement. The clearMedia function still works (during the destroy).

Hello Mark sir, can you tell me what is the difference in getting jplayer data in version 2.6 rather than older versions like 2.0 or older.
var c_time = $('#jquery_jplayer_1').data("jPlayer").status.currentTime;

in versions 2.0 and 2.1 or older versions below lines works and gives output ::

$("#btn_gettime").click(function() {
var c_time = $('#jquery_jplayer_1').data("jPlayer").status.currentTime;
alert(c_time); // gives current playing  time :)
});

while same code is not working in version 2.6 !!!??? :( looks like something changes in getting data of jplayer
 $('#jquery_jplayer_1').data("jPlayer").status.currentTime;
But what?

Regards
Muhammad

There should be no difference in getting the data for currentTime. There are some status items that moved to options, like muted and volume, but the currentTime has remained the same since 2.0. In jPlayer 1.x it was different, but no one should be using that any more.

Hi Mark, currently I'm working with jPlayer and jPlayerPlaylist add-on, but I have a problem when I show in chrome for android doesn't work, and happen some curious: when click in button to reload website in chrome, the audio starts to play, but when the website is loaded, don't play. I tested in android 4.4.x y one thing more...

this works very well with the version 35 of chrome android, but in the version 36 fails, Do you have any idea about that is happening?

Thanks in advance ;)

Hi,

I signed up to the jplayer google forum, and posted a question there, but have heard nothing. I also posted in wordpress and no replies.

I hope you can help me.

my question is -

I have tried a number of times to upload jQuery.jPlayer.2.6.0. ( http://jplayer.org/ ) and this is the message i get -

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: jQuery.jPlayer.2.6.0.zip

Unpacking the package…

Installing the plugin…

The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.

Plugin install failed.

Return to Plugins page

so what to do? why is this so?

I use wordpress 3.9.1 and Pinboard Theme. I have tried using a different theme and it's the same result. I use a Firefox browser.

I really would like to use this player.

Please let me know,

Thanks, joan
