AutoRemote Standalone apps are Projects exported from Tasker that can be ran on Android Devices without Tasker installed.
This allows you to have AutoRemote functionality without Tasker.

I though I'd start a thread where people can post their AutoRemote standalone apps.

Here are mine:
 - AutoRemoteCopy: Send text to your device clibpoard from any webbrowser or android device
 - AutoRemotePhoto: Send "take photo front" or "take photo rear" to take a remote photo on your Android device
 - AutoRemoteMediaControl: Send "music=:=" followed by "stop", "next", "pause", "previous", "toggle" or volume level (up to 15) to your phone to control it's media functions remotely. So, for instance \"music==next\" would skip the current music player to the next song. "music=:=3" would set its media volume to 3.
 - AutoRemoteNotify: Send "notify 1=:=Notification title=:=Notification text", to make a notification show up on your Android device (where 1 can be any number and represents a number to be superimposed on the notification icon; this number doesn't work in ICS)

Can we get the Tasker XML that go with the apps, in case we want to tweak them a bit ?

Sure. I'll add that to my original post when I have some free time. Problem beeing, I already erased some of the profiles that created these apps... :)

I just figured out that inside the tasker-created apk we can find the xml ^^

Oh good! I'll see if I can extract the Xmls from there then. :)

I've now created an RSS feed for these apps. Now that the new version is out I'll start creating more apps.

Here's my first, Remote Alarm. It lets you set multiple sequential alarms across two devices with only 7 taps on local device. Great if you like me use your tablet as a backup alarm in case your phone fails, but hate setting alarms on both

The app won't warn you if you've done anything wrong so follow instructions.

Installation:
*Download the apk from http://db.tt/tXLqqgbx
*Install on both devices
*Run on remote (slave) device, just so it starts up. Just X out of the popup box
*run app on local (master) device. Type in 9999 into alarm time box. This opens config menu. Set local alarm count, remote alarm count, and alarm delay.
*add remote device to remotealarm channel. You can do this with the channal management tool on the local device, or send a message from the remote to the local device with the remotealarm channel specified.

Usage:
*Run app. Enter time in 24 hour format, HH.MM. E.g 08.00, 21.05 etc. Only use that format.
*this sets the specified number of local alarms at specified interval, then sets specified number of remote alarms at the same interval.

E.g.
Config: 3 3, 5
Time: 08.00
Sets alarms at 08.00, 08.05, 08.10 on local device. Sets alarms at 08.15, 08.20, 08.25 on remote device

Either device can be local or remote. Local is the device that you set the alarm and settings on.

Only works if you have an alarm clock that supports remote setting the alarm. Alarm Clock Plus in Google Play is an example of an alarm app that does work.

Guess it would work with more devices, but alarms on remo devices would be identical, not sequential

Hi Joamgcd

I have a some queries with regards to stand alone apps. I'm currently working on a project and am thinking of turning it into a stand alone app. The only problem is that its designed with multiple messages sent currently directly to my devices. Obviously everyone will name their devices differently and have different URLs.

in order to make my app fully univeral and work with anyones setup, should I send all messages to a channel/s? and if so, can you explain a little more about how a channel works and maybe an example. I asume under channel I can use "1" or "myapp" etc as the channel. would I then need to advise in my stand alone app for the user to set "somthing" to this channel?

I have no problem finding where the option is to "send" on a channel (in the device list). but how do I set tasker to listen on a channel? or does tasker receive all channels? I'm just not sure how the user would go about setting up their devices to receive the messages I send on a channel.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards
RBX

PS. any news on the new version with URL backup support? ;-)

Hi!

I'm happy to help. I should maybe create a channels tutorial. I fear this may be an under-used feature. But in the meantime, I'll explain it here:

A channel is just a group where you can add your devices. See it as a named recipient group.

So, if you want to send a message to all your PCs you can either send individual messages to each PC or simply add all your PCs to a "PC" channel and send a message to that channel. This will broadcast the message to all the devices on that channel.

So, let's say you want your standalone app to send a message to your PC. Instruct your users to add their PC to a channel of your choice (in the devices screen, there's a "channel" icon) , and then send all your messages through that channel.

About the URL backup, sorry, I haven't been able to do much work on AutoRemote lately. Will do it as soon as possible!

Hope this helps.

Hi joaomgcd

   Me again........:-)

with regards to assigning channels to devices. I have a small query

on the PC its simple, theres a channel box.
on my android phone the icon in "Devices" to set a channel seems to only alow me to set the channel on other devices, not the my phone. if I go to my tablet, it only alows me to set the channel on other devices not the tablet.

my question is, if I select NO device/s, autoremote advises "settings will be applied to all devices". Does this include the device im on at the time?

i.e on my phone I go to the devices screen and select the channel icon. I set my channel but specify NO device. will my PC/Tablet & PHONE be added to the channel?

Sorry if i'm asking dumb questions, but really want to get my head around autoremote fully to maximise the efficieny of my task creation.

Thanks in advance
RBX

Hi again.

Ok, I think I really need to make some documentation about this, sorry.

The idea is, you add devices to a channel on YOUR device.

Say you want to create a "myapp" channel to exchange messages between your phone and tablet:
 - On your phone, you add your tablet to the "myapp" channel
 - On your tablet, you add your phone to the "myapp" channel
 - On your app, you send messages through the "myapp" channel; when on your phone, messages will be sent to your tablet; when on your tablet messages will be sent to your phone.

Hope this makes it clearer. Let me know if it doesn't :)

Just to make things clearer, the channel on your PC is just a shortcut to automatically add your PC to a channel on your device. It's the equivalent of adding that PC manually on your device.

If you apply a channel to all devices, whenever you send a message to that channel, it will be sent to all your devices.

This sounds interesting, but I really can't imagine how this should work. If I export a project containing autoremote commands - I still would need autoremote on this other device, right?
Or how else can I set up devices, etc?

Yes, that's correct Oliver. :) What you can do is send messages by name (instead of selecting the device directly) and then instruct your users that they need to name their devices a specific name.

After you exported apk to other devices, what url do u use? , I tried using the same personal url as the phone with AR installed, the AR message only goes to the original phone, not the child app.
Thx

The URL is the one that AR has on the device that you install the child app on :)
