Hello,

the latest IZPack isn't compatible with Java 9. The installation will fail at the very end, as reported in IZPACK-1588. This frustrating behavior has been fixed for a long time now:

May I ask about the plans for releasing this bugfix? Please let me know if there's any way in which I could help make it happen.

Regards!

Hi Lukáš,

I'm sorry for the late actions at the current time. I'm currently quite busy with my job.
I'm currently trying to involve more people into the release management, be patient.

Nevertheless, it seems there is another Java 9 bug on stage: IZPACK-1623
Would you please take action and verify this? And get into contact with the reporter, please?
It would be a pity to release and miss this point.

Thank you,
René

It seems that the issue was fixed before I could take a look at it. :-)

Ok, there is one more related:
As far as I know there are still problems with showing the correct default system language in the language dialog in JDK9, while in the JDK versions before there is no known problem.
See IZPACK-1613, for example.

I looked into the issue and it seems reported by users of the French locale. Without a reliable reproducer, which was not provided, I won't be able to do much about it. That said, is this issue really a blocker?
I want to point out that IZpack currently *crashes* on Java 9 and later and we have a fix already merged.

Even if we make *no other fixes* in 5.1.3, the users of IZPack will still be much better off with this release. Right now, they're just getting a crash and no explanation for it.

Can we please have a quick 5.1.3, to give users the benefits of the bugfixes we already have?
