ITK-Snap won't load .nii file with NIFTI format

Hello,

I am trying to use ITK-Snap for knee segmentation purposes. In our lab, we have a Mac and a PC with the newest versions of ITK-Snap (3.6) on the computers. When I use ITK-Snap on our Mac, it works perfectly. However, when I try to load images in ITK-Snap on the PC (all the files are .nii format and I try loading them using the NIFIT format) an error message pops up saying "The IO library for the format NIFIT can not read the image file." This has never happened on the Mac and it doesn't happen with some of our older images. However, with all of our most recent images, they cannot be opened. Is there something that I should be doing differently or is this a bug in the software/problem with using it on a PC?

Does the path where the images reside on windows have non-ASCII characters? This is typically the issue.
