Have anyone tried successfully to implement 0v7670 camera module with IOIO - OTG?

Not much info online, and I bought this camera.

Any information would be really helpful.

Or if anyone tried with any other camera, please share.

Regards,
Marius

Here's the info I could find: http://embeddedprogrammer.blogspot.com/2012/07/hacking-ov7670-camera-module-sccb-cheat.html
I don't think you'd be able to interface this camera without custom firmware. The IOIO-Android bandwidth might also be a challenge.

Thank Ytai for this, I did come across this info too, but its not much about this camera.

Would you have anything that I could use for camera? I have no problem to replace and get another camera module.

But it would be handy to have some working examples with it.

Thanks,

Why not just use the camera in your phone device?

What are your requirements, as opposed to the camera available on your Android?

There's no such a requirement in my project to have a camera, but I have always thought that would be nice to have it. Live viewing while driving, and for snapshots. And storing snapshots in local db. So I think any camera could do this.

It will be a lot easier to build this functionality around the Android's built in camera than to try to interface an external camera through the IOIO.

I think you need this because you need to have camera placed anywhere else so I will suggest buying a cheap china manufactured phone! Like micromax they have easy to remove cmos modules surface mounted which you can remove and use wires running from the camera to the pcb.

This is a pure android question to know how to use camera of a android phone goto developer. Android.com.

I used a cheap android phone as a base device where I used to send sms and the device used to click pictures then upload to the server using ftp.

Thanks & Regards,
Nishant
