Also known as સરોજ [Saroj] in Gujarati, indicative of its habit of thriving in a waterbody such as a lake or a pond (સરોવર).

Many thanks Viplav ji for this name. Will keep note of it and include while compiling the numerous names of lotus (most of them derived from Sanskrit). The exercise of sorting the names associated with lotus and water lily will also hopefully be done then. For certain it would be a mind-boggling exercise.
