Sir / Madam,

The book, "Plant Groups" mentions a few Vitaceae members and one of them is Vitis pedata Vahl. = Cayratia pedata Gagnep.

Recorded some photographs of a wild climber and searched the net for its ID. Was trying to obtain info for Cayratia pedata Gagnep. What i found -
  1. Cayratia pedata (Lam.) Gagnep. = Vitis pedata (Lam.) Wallich ex Wight (NOT V. pedata Vahl.) = The Plant List = http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-2706567
  2. Cayratia pedata (Lour.) Juss. = unresolved name = The Plant List = http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/tro-34000003
  3. Vitis pedata Vahl. ex Wall. = Cayratia pedata (Lam.) Juss. Ex Gagnep. = ZipcodeZoo = http://zipcodezoo.com/Plants/V/Vitis_pedata/
  4. Info on Cayratia pedata (Lour.) Juss. ex Gagnep. or Vitis pedata Vahl. ex Wall. = http://books.google.co.in/books?id=iVsLAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA255&lpg=PA255&dq=vitis+pedata&source=bl&ots=t37A9oSpXW&sig=UE0PNpHEErSliBweLFutxpPoAko&hl=en&sa=X&ei=T0T8T8-MJ8uhiQfR5ezGBg&ved=0CEwQ6AEwBg#v=onepage&q=vitis%20pedata&f=false

Sir,

As i said before in one of my earlier posts that I met Dr. D. C. S. Raju on the last Tuesday, Raju Sir gifted me copies of his book, "Excursion Flora of Simhachalam Hill". This books offers an account of Cayratia pedata (Vahl.) Gagnep. Hc. I copy the following words from the book -

"Syn. Vitis pedata Vahl. A tomentose vine; Leaves 7-foliate, Flowers 4-merous, white, June-August...."

A herbarium of the same plant is available at - http://www.rprcbbsr.com/herbarium/herbarium/images/id/115
Description is also available - http://www.rprcbbsr.com/herbarium/species?id=115

I think this plant is likely to be Cayratia pedata (Vahl.) Gagnep. Hc.

Thank you & Regards,

Surajit Koley
