Thanks. I just called them and they have the book in stock. It’s a bit pricey though and I am seeing if I can convince them to give me a better discount than 10% they are offering.

For your area the best book would be The Orchid Flora of North West Himalaya by Somdeva and H.B. Naithani. The book is available at Dehradun with Bisen Singh Mahendra Pal Singh publisher. They have one mroe new book, A century of west Himalayan Orchids by H.J.Chowdhury and D.K.Agarwala but I am not a big fan of theirs. Infact their identification of Platanthera edgeworthii is wrong and their plate is of Platanthera latilabris on the plate, except one pic which is of edgeworthii.

Forgot to ask if you could please recommend any reading material on orchids. I am very ignorant and would like to know what to look for while photographing.

I based my ID on your photo here;

Please call me Ashwini. I follow the subject line suggested by Dr Gurcharan Singh long ago. I put the name of the plant or my query followed by my initials, month and the sequence number of the message in that month. Some of the message numbers will duplicate each year but the name of the plant will be unique. I will perhaps start putting the year in the subject line too e.g ABAUG2016/04.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Dear Ashwini sir
One more thing I just noticed that you have two different plants under same number, which you may need to check for your record in future.
For example, if I search for ABAUG01/04 I get two different threads:
