Hi All,

I recently added some observations of the Western ringtail possum (Pseudocheirus occidentalis) - I had looked up their IUCN status of critically endangered as it seemed like I had seen quite a few that evening.

Anyway I then noticed on the iNat page that it returns its red list status as "Extinct in the wild" which they are not - I saw 20 or so wild one on the weekend!

Is this just a matching error?

cheers
Ry

Hi, Ry.
(I'm pretty sure that) conservation statuses are added manually, so the error here would be human, not any internal computing error.

I have fixed the issue; the possum's conservation status is now "Critically endangered". Thanks for alerting me of the problem.
However, in the future, please flag the taxon page when there's a problem instead of posting to the Google Group.

- Bobby

Thanks Bobby,

I wouldn't have thought it was manual process but if it is I agree - I should have flagged the taxon.  I thought it might be a database alignment issue.

Cheers Ry
