Hi community,

I'm glad to announce that iDempiere project applied for amazon credits on the following initiative:

Amazon assigned a budget for 2020 that can cover some servers and S3 backup space.

At the moment I have migrated the wiki and jenkins servers to amazon, and all important servers are being backed up to amazon S3 buckets.

Additionally I created a test server for oracle - running oracle-XE 11g within a docker container.

This server can be accessed at this URL:

If somebody is interested in some server setup (like more specialized test environments, for example load balancing; or test automation; or business intelligence; or whatever) - please let us know and we'll coordinate to let you set it up in amazon.

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

Hi Azzam,

For the test-oracle server I used an ubuntu machine with an oracle-XE docker container inside.

But for production I would not recommend that setup.

I would recommend better using RDS Oracle, and for the app server the linux of your preference.

Also, if you prefer your oracle self-managed then an Amazon Linux or a RedHat is preferred.

We can help you with that task if you need it, but to get a proper estimate of work we need more details, that is better to be discussed privately.

Regards,

hi Andres, Carlos and Azzam

i'm trying to setup idempiere 6.2 on aws with oracle 11g xe, the oracle's installation is ok but when i try setup oracle parameters in idempiere i'm getting a connection error.

i write "xe" in the "database name server" and "sys" in the database user and "my instalation password" in the system pasword but i can't get a succesfully connection.

could you give me some guide about the idempiere + oracle server setup, please?

i have 2 ec2 instances: 1. ubuntu 18.04 with idempiere 6.2 and 2. amazon linux ami with oracle 11g xe installed

Dear Jaime

I’ve tested the connection with username Adempiere and gave me error on password or user, but when I tried with sys I can connect successfully.

Check Adempiere’s password

Hi Jaime, as Andres adviced you must use a different user than system, usually I use idempiere - or you can have several installations in the same oracle database, you can name it idempiere62

One question I'm curious.  Why are you installing 6.2 and not 7.1?  Both are based in java 11 and 6.2 is not maintained, why is that you prefer 6.2?

Not criticizing, just advising, and I'm curious to know because it seems is a common case.

Carlos Ruiz

Hi Andres and Carlos, thanks for your responses i'm going to try with a different user, one question: i have to create the user inside oracle? or where must i create the user? i'm sorry, i'm really newbie with oracle, thanks for your help and your time.

well, i'm installing idempiere 6.2 because we have that version running with postgres and some plugins like payroll and our own development to complement the payroll plugin, we need to recreate the same environment with oracle db, actually we are upgrading from 6.2 to 7.1 with postgres.

thanks again

Jaime

I saw you have Adempiere User already, you just have to change the password.
