Hi,

I am seeing a strange behaviour in the item view, where Reference code is being partially duplicated:
The document identifier is 1.D.01184
The archival institution identifier is ES 28108 AMA
The reference code should be ES 28108 AMA 1.D.01184 but appears as ES ES 28108 AMA 1.D.01184

Any idea out there?

Best,
Jesus

Hi Jesus,

I'm not yet sure if this is a bug, or perhaps a data entry issue. I'll start by trying to clarify that. Here is how the reference code is constructed in AtoM, according to the documentation:

When this setting is set to “yes”, the reference code string will be built using the archival description identifier plus the identifier of all its ancestors (parent records), as well as the repository identifier and country code if they have been entered. The string will appear in this order with the applicable elements:
  • Country code (derived from the country code of the country entered into the contact information of the related archival institution)
  • Repository identifier (derived from the identifier field on the related archival institution)
  • Fonds/Collection level identifier
  • Series identifier
  • Subseries identifier
  • File identifier
  • Item identifier
  • etc.

So, my first question is:

Did you manually enter "ES" as part of your repository code, as well as enter the Country in the address information? If yes, this might explain why it is showing up twice for you, since it would also be getting ES by using the ISO-3166 country code for whatever country (in this case, Spain) you entered in the archival institution's contact information.

Cheers,

Yes, you were right. This works as documented.
The ES duplicate code was from the country being present in the repository address information.
I beg your pardon for not RTFM. Thank you again for your detailed answer.

Best,
Jesus
