Help needed with Thetis

I'm new to the Hermes lite 2.  So please excuse my ignorance :)

I plan to upgrade to my plus using the companion board.  I have the upgrade board but wanted to get Thetis going with the radio as is - not yet a plus.

I have Thetis V2.10.3.4 x64 FW 7.3 protocol 1 HL2-Bets 2  MIOBOT loaded. But every time I try to run it.  I get ADC1 overloads and it stops working.

I've adjusted the attenuator to the smallest value -28 and it still is overloaded.  I also enabled the auto attn feature and still no joy.

I finally loaded SDR Console and  it works fine.

Have I loaded the correct version?

Can you tell me the correct version, I have not loaded the gateway software but it shows 7.3, Hermes lite, Protocol 1.  Should I load the  Gate way?

A really cool device and your help is greatly appreciated.

You didn't say, but have you first installed the non-HL2 Thetis?

It is required to install it first before running Thetis for HL2 - once the non-HL2 version is installed, you can ignore it/no need to run it.

Yes I did and did the uninstall - install several times.  Installed 2.10.3.5, then copied 2.10.3.4-beta 2 zip to a new folder c:\OpenHPSDR and ran thee Thetis.exe located there.

Out of ideas,  I did the install on my other laptop and it works fine.  So it's something wrong with the Thetis install on the 

LG laptop.  I am thinking I need to completely uninstall and try again on the LG.  On the LG, I did a Windows program uninstall and re-install but that didn't make any difference.  So I'm going to 

search for how to do a more complete uninstall.  

When I did the successful install on the ThinkPad, it did the long list of files before the Thetis window came up.  On the LG it just brought up the window.  That might be a hint

for someone more knowledgeable than me. 

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I did a windows restore point that was at the first Thetis install and re-loaded everything.  No help, still ADC1 overload with the Attn set at -28. AGC gain above the noise.  

I'm perplexed again.

I did notice  that the characterization testing normally run on first run after an install doesn't run.  It just loads Thetis.  The radio leds TX and RX75 both flash which I think just means it stopped runniing

normally.

So I'm stumped at this point.  I've searched uninstall but haven't found anything helpful.  Perhaps it is not compatible with my laptop.  That would be a first for me.

When you get to run Thetis for HL2 again, use:

Setup -> 'H/W Select' tab and bottom left, click 'Reset Database'

Close Thetis for HL2 and start it again, what happens now?

Last resort is to delete your whole profile folder.

In Windows File Explorer go to: (copy paste this into the address bar at top)

%appdata%\OpenHPSDR\

Locate the Thetis folder for HL2 and delete it.

Run Thetis for HL2 again - it should create the wisdom file (black DOS box that takes some time on the first run).

Thank you Nigel.  Got some good progress!

Resetting the database helped.  I can now get it to run but as soon as I enable VAC1, it runs for about a minute, then locks up.  Both the TX and the ADC 75 are flashing in unison at about 50% rate after the lockup.

I haven't checked all the settings per the "Setup/General/H/W Select" HL2 document since resetting the database.

I haven't deleted the profile folder.  I think this is my next task after checking the settings as best as I can.

Hi Nigel,

I  just finished working with Thetis and when I enable VAC1, it locks within seconds.  If I turn off vac1 off   and restart the radio, it's working again.  It appears that the VAC1 is a problem.

I am directly connected to the PC, wifi is off,  but I'm not sure if that is at all related related.

Anyway it's mostly working :)

You mention that you installed Thetis 2.10.3.5 then copied the HL2 mods for 2.10.3.4 (last time I checked there were no HL2 mods for 2.10.3.5). You need to install Thetis 2.10.3.4 the add the HL2 mods. The HL2 mods are based on a specific version of Thetis.
