I've been thinking about making a GML (GamkerMaker Language) style engine with HaxeFlixel. What do you think?

I love how fast it is for me to use GML with GameMaker.

I have been looking for something simular with Haxe but I can't find anything. Stencyl the closest thing but it is all visual and not what I'm after.

Now I'm thinking there must be a way I could make a program that parses through a scripting language based off GML and generates Haxe files that can be then compiled to whatever language I want.

I know it would be hard work but I was thinking I could update it as I need new functions making. I think I would speed up my development more using this than coding it myself.

I was thinking of using HaxeFlixel at first to get it up and running then making it more custom after.

What are the problems with this idea?

No, that's Haxe to GameMaker. I want my own GML-like script to Haxe.

Just can just ask YellowAfterlife (https://twitter.com/yellowafterlife). Personally I would say first make a game and only then worry about your targets, as porting is usually a lot quicker than developing weird hybrid systems.

I want to make this to speed up my development. It's not just for porting. I can't see how making the game first will help.

if you are that skillful that you can create brand new dev tool for haxe, why can't you just use haxe to develop?
imo haxe is way more complex than gml, so you won't use all the power of haxe. or you will leave this project, because of complexity.
and i can't understand why make it? gml already has cool cross-cimpilers.

Gamemaker can't compile to Flash and it would be cool to make something that's easier than Haxe to use for development but still have Haxe. I'd want it to be able to be used with HaxeFlixel too.

Isn't Haxe better to know in the future than GameMaker? And Haxe is free. GameMaker's level editor is crap and it's not open source.

I'm not saying I'm that skilled but it's just for a little fun. I can learn too.
