Compilation of programs in HMG 3.4.3

I am not able to compile anything. I get the error -

                    Resource compiler - 42 'Windres' is not recognised as an internal or external command

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated

Hello Serge,

I tried the HMG Forum and got some advice about refreshing the MINGW setup.

I also did some path settings in my Windows 10 setup

I am now getting a different error when trying to run the program - "unable to start the program (0cx000007b)

Any ideas?

Sorry to be off topic. I am having the same problem while trying to build for 64 bits(32 bits works ok)

Could you register yourself on the HMGforum ? How ? I did not find any "Sign in" button.

Did you contact someone by email ? I sent them an email sometime back (through "Contact us" button) but got no reply.

Hello Serge,

I am attaching a sample program that gives the error after compilation & linking.

BTW - I get the same error when I try running c:\hmg.3.4.3\_BuildAllLib64.bat. In fact the compile sequences run correctly and the error comes at the end of all complile sequences.

From what I have been able to learn from searching for error "0xc000007b" it is a Windows error pointing to some error in the executable file header format.

I am using a Lenovo z50-75 with an AMD A10 processor with 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD.

I get the same error regardless of whether I compile 32bits or 64 bits

I am having trouble with both 32bits & 64bits.

I too want to register on the HMGForum but there is no "Register" button.

I too used the Contact Us twice, but no response so far.

Sorry I am not in a position to help :(( I too am feeling stuck

For me it was VC++ 2010 (it was not a HMG program). http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

I have HMG 3.4.0 (I don't use it), and your sample compiles and runs just fine under Win7x64.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried your solution but still have a problem.

If I run "i686-w64-mingw32-c++.exe" - or - "i686-w64-mingw32-g++.exe" - or - "i686-w64-mingw32-gcc.exe" directly I get the same error.

There seems to be something wrong with my C Runtime setup that your solution does not solve.

If you are using the x64 edition of windows then sometimes it helps to install both x86 and x64 VC++ Redistributable Packages,
I had to do that in one such case.

I Downloaded both x86 & x64 VC++ Redistributable Packages and installed them.

No change in status. The problem persists :((

Windres.exe is mingw resource compiler which is located in the same
directory where compiler is, it should be something like mingw\bin.

Check your mingw installation.
Try to add your mingw/bin to PATH before compiling.

If you are using hbmk2, and hb instalalation with mingw compiler in hb/comp/
it should work out of the box.

Thank you for your suggestion which I have already done. Once I set the PATH correctly the problem was solved.

I am now facing a new problem

I am having trouble running the MINGW Compiler - both 32bit an 64bit
I get the error "0xc000007b"

As a result I cannot compile and run any code
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I have windres.exe at correct path C:\hmg.3.4.3\MINGW\bin still I get error 'windres' is not recognized as an internal or external command...

I am using HMG_IDE for compiling.

Can you pls advice what I might be doing wrong.

In my setup I have windres.exe at two locations. Please check

C:\hmg.3.4.3\MINGW\mingw64\bin
C:\hmg.3.4.3\MINGW\bin

There is a difference in size of the .exe files at both locations.

There is only 1 windres.exe(925 KB) at C:\hmg.3.4.3\MINGW\bin

Can you pls provide the link from where you downloaded hmg.3.4.3 ?

Sorry to reply late.

I have Win 7 with intel processor with 8 gb RAM

I also had the same error msg as you have shown because I was trying to compile the program in c:\hmg.3.4.3 directory.

HMG doesnt compile if there are spaces or special characters,"." , in the path.

See if changing your program file location helps.

I am not a programmer but just somehow gets things done :)
