Fellow makers,

This year's Canadian Repair Convention is held in Halifax (https://www.canadianrepairconvention.ca/) and there will be a demonstration Repair Café at the convention location.

I'm hoping a number of makers are be interested in volunteering as repair folks. In my experience the repair is usually something simple, like gluing, soldering, or replacing a part if it's available. Sometimes there is some diagnosis needed, but there are always helpful people around if it's something outside your comfort zone. The main thing is to have people there who aren't afraid of handiwork (you'd be surprised how uncommon that is). There are several sponsors for the event, so a thank-you gift for volunteers is planned.

This will be a demonstration Repair Café by NS Repairs (https://nsrepairs.ca/). The hope is to kick off series of events like it throughout the year, but I'm still in discussions with the public library about that.

If you're available this May 21st or 22nd and you want to help promote the right to have stuff repaired, please email me directly. Questions are welcome too, if you're not sure whether you could be of help.

Many thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom

I'm sorry that I missed this. There were just too many competing items.

I'd like to discuss hosting one in the fall here in Sackville. This may lead nowhere, or it may lead somewhere.

Would you be up for a coffee to talk about it?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

I've had the luck of meeting with Heather and Nina at the HPL. They are welcoming us for a monthly pilot series at the Keshen-Goodman public library starting June 21st. From there I'm hoping we can expand across HRM.

If you're interested or aware of others who are interested, this is the best way to get onto the volunteer schedule: https://forms.gle/mNFhATbfpBt3y47z8

I'm open to having coffee any time. This week and next week are pretty flexible.

Best regards,
Tom
