GWT-Bootstrap and GWTBootstrap3

Hi,

I'm already using GWT-Bootstrap for one of my projects and I just found out about GWTBootstrap3?

I noticed that using custom theme is a lot easier with GWTBootstrap3. Is there any other benefit? (Apart from being based on bootstrap3 of course).

My main concern with GWT-Bootstrap is that I need to extend it to integrate widgets of my own. I'm not even sure it's possible with GWT-Bootstrap because they remove any non-bootstrap stylename. Would I have the same issue with GWTBootstrap3?

Well, apparently I just said something stupid. GWT-Bootstrap does not remove stylenames, it was an issue with my project :-)

GWTBootstrap3 is developed to mimic the HTML of Bootstrap very closely. One of the biggest benefits to be is the the UiBinder code will closely match the HTML code needed for the same layout. There are many other widgets that Bootstrap3 has added and we support those.

Could you give an example on these widgets you create? I currently have many widgets for my own projects that I have created by extending GWTBootstrap3 widgets.

Well, I made a assumption based on an issue on my side, so actually there is no issue regarding the creation my own widgets.

I have a huge GWT Application with widgets similar to GWT Calendar and Powerpoint. I'm about to do a major rewriting/refactoring of this application and I'm evaluating other frameworks like SmartGWT, GXT, Vaddin... I want to stay as close as possible to GWT and these frameworks all come with more than what I want. All I want, is nice looking widgets, not a new RPC. So, when I found out about GWT Bootstrap, and GWTBootstrap3 I though it was what I was looking for.

And it probably is. Very nice work, the demo looks really good.

Have someone used the Unify Bootstrap template with the GWTBootstrap3? I am thinking about using this template but i don't know if
its possible to integrate it with bootstrap3.

Yes, you can either recreate the layout using the widgets under client/ui/html (there are all the standard HTML widgets there). Or you can just wrap the widgets from your theme as we do inside the client/ui folders.

Correct me if I'm wrong but these directions are for a custom 'theme'.  Not a 'template', which is far more extensive and useful to the 'creatively challenged' like me.

If I'm not mistaken, the templates available at, say, wrapbootstrap.com need to be reverse engineered and re-written in Java / UI Binder before they can be used with GWTBootstrap3.
